The study of Computer Science is the study of our humanity - how we create meaning, how we interact and collaborate with others, and how we intentionally create our future as we innovate using new tools. We each have a role to offer in this emerging world, yet how active are we in helping to shape the world we want?
Other than the hard skills we learn, how we approach, use, and respond to its ability to amplify or diminish our humanity is core to learning in this subject.
There is no doubt that my passion lies in creating immersive learning experiences for students of all ages in Computer Science and STEAM. Whether students need to be prepared for examination in upper secondary and university or whether it is to feed my insatiable 7 year olds for more knowledge, more experiences, more meaningful interaction, or whether its for teachers who sometimes choose - sometimes are told to attend my CPD training sessions, I am humbled that I can help to make a difference.
There are times when I feel that I am being challenged relentlessly to explain the importance of this subject and at pains to give justifications of its need in today's world. During my career this has only intensified; such is the pace of our quick-changing world and the pressure for us all to keep up with the changes. I feel privileged to have received such a forward-thinking education in my early career years which has prepared me well to adapt, adjust and continue on a path of life-long learning and I invite all who might be reading this and are interested in learning a little more about my subject to start with some of the tutorials found within these pages.
